Battle of Antrim Anniversary Tours




The Battle of Antrim Anniversary tour will begin by exploring the story of Roddy McCorley, who was hanged in Toome for his part in the Archer Gang, and examining what happened in Toome on the 7th of June, before visiting Duneane Church, the last resting place of Roddy and the man who hanged him, Mr Sargent Dallas, where the story of United Irishman, Captain William Cook, will be recounted.

The next stop will be Randalstown to explore the events of the successful Battle for Randalstown while walking the award winning viaduct.

Lunch at the Dunadry Hotel will follow before hearing about the artifacts discovered when the hotel was renovated in the 1950s and the under cited Battle of Dunadry.

From Dunadry the tour will proceed to Pogues Entry in Antrim to begin a guided walking tour of the town that will visit the key locations and recount the events of the Battle of Antrim while making its way down to the Battlements to finish at Clotworthy House and the Battle of Antrim Exhibition for 3pm.

Locations: Western Route, Antrim, Toome, Duneane, Randalstown, Antrim
Meeting at the Old Courthouse Antrim Town Centre for 08.45 for coach departure at 09.00, NB. Lunch included. Participants should be able to walk at a reasonable pace for approx 1 hour and dress for expected weather, parking available at Clotworthy House, Antrim Castle Gardens or Antrim Town carparks.
